"My subject matter is derived from nature and sex, which together formulates the human condition. Nature provides all the human forms, which make pictures and words. I am never puzzled, since clarity of form is my prime concern. The artist turns reality into art which is again reality itself ... It should be brought to the notice of art critics that an artist like me who comes from families of traditional painters going back even to the Mogul period is now creating works of art in the modern medium, so that modern Indian art in this case appears to be clearly rooted in India's traditional past, and the art which we are creating today will become the tradition of the future." |
